My name is Marcus and my nickname is Mr. Uncertain (in German, better known as Herr Ungewiss). Maybe you have already read the »About« page and know what you can expect here. If not, I will explain a bit what this is about.
It is about music. I listen to music whenever there is time. That is my passion. I am not a professional when it comes to music and instruments. I cannot play any instrument, except the air guitar. It is not possible for me to say if a song is on a higher quality level than another. That is not the point for me. Music is something, that must touch me. Regardless of how it sounds, how it is produced or what genre it is from.
When I am in a special mood, it can be classical music that is what I want to listen to. Yes, typically I like to listen to Heavy Metal. But there is also a big part of entirely different music from songwriters that make folk, indie, punk, rock or electronic sounds. A genre is not relevant to me.
When I write about a band and their songs, I will just give you an idea about my situation in which I listen to it and what it makes with me. Does it switch me from anger to happiness? Was I able to lay back and just calm down? Did I jump and get my air guitar playing while banging through the house?
That is in few words what you can expect here. I am not sure if it is from interest for you to know how I listen the music. But I will write it down, just to make it complete.
I own a turntable from ELAC. They are better known for their speakers, but I also own a pair of speakers from them as well. The turntable is not linked to the main amplifier because the two used speakers are active speakers. In between is a small turntable preamplifier with the ability to connect headphones. The option to connect headphones is the only cause why this preamplifier exists in my turntable setup.
If I want to listen to music that is not available on vinyl on my shelf, I can power on my streamer and my big amplifier. I can also listen to high-res music from my computer, which I can connect via USB to a DAC (Digital-Analogue Converter). I usually buy high-res music from Qobuz which is also my choice for the streaming of music. The devices in this setup are all from the company Cambridge Audio from London.
Please be aware that this is not advertising for the companies I have mentioned. I do not get a penny from them. I just want to give you an idea of what I use daily for my listening experience.
